MASTER OF ARTS IN TEACHING, MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (SECONDARY)

CALIFORNIA STUDENTS

A transcript evaluation is completed once official transcripts from all relevant degrees and coursework have been received by WGU. Please note that transcripts must be sent to WGU directly from the issuing institution to be considered official. WGU does not accept unofficial transcripts or perform unofficial evaluations. Transcripts must be received prior to your initial term start date.

WGU provides three pathways for entrance into our Master of Arts in Teaching programs. Pathway 1 is completion of a related degree and a GPA of 2.5 or above. Pathway 2 is completion of an unrelated degree with sufficient coursework in the content area of the intended area of licensure and a GPA of 2.5 or above. Pathway 3 is a GPA of 2.0-2.49, passing Basic Skill Exam scores, and a completion of a related degree OR completion of sufficient coursework in the content area of the intended area of licensure. The specific requirements for admission via each pathway into the Master of Arts in Teaching, Mathematics Education (Secondary) program are outlined below. The degree or coursework necessary to meet these requirements must be completed prior to admission.

Applicants licensing in CA (dependent on degree major), must submit an Official Transcript with a baccalaureate degree posted to the transcript. WGU performs a degree and GPA verification for the Applicant's eligibility. WGU requires the Applicant's completion of a Regionally accredited bachelor's and a GPA of 2.5 or above (or state GPA requirement if higher). WGU also performs and sends the Applicant a California Content Evaluation form. These Applicants are still eligible without the completion of the course listed on their California Content Evaluation form, prior to enrollment. Any missing courses from these content forms, WGU adds to the Student's first term for the Student to complete at WGU. Applicants intending to license in CA with a GPA of 2.0-2.49, are required to present passing Basic Skill Exam scores.
