Master of Arts in Teaching, Mathematics Education (Middle Grades)

A transcript evaluation is completed once official transcripts from all relevant degrees and coursework have been received by WGU. The specific requirements for admission via each pathway into the Master of Arts in Teaching, Mathematics Education (Middle Grades) program are outlined below. The degree or coursework necessary to meet these requirements must be completed prior to admission.

PATHWAY 1 – Completion of related degree 

Mathematics (Middle Grades) UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE DEGREE COMPLETION   ​

MathematicsProof of completion of an UG or GR degree in Mathematics or related content area
 Cumulative GPA of 2.5 (or state GPA requirement if higher) or competency-based equivalent

  

OR

PATHWAY 2 – Completion of unrelated degree with qualifying coursework

  • Must be college-level coursework from a regionally accredited institution in the United States as determined by the Department of Education.
  • A grade point of 2.0 (C) for each course submitted is required, in addition to meeting a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (or state GPA requirement if higher).

24 Hours Coursework required in Major area as defined below

Mathematics
100% of course hours of Major level course work
 Cumulative GPA of 2.5 (or state GPA requirements) or competency-based equivalent


OR

PATHWAY 3 – Passing scores on the WGU program required Basic Skills Exam

Mathematics (Middle Grades) BSE AND Related content degree completion OR completion of related coursework

Passing scores on the WGU program required Basic Skills Exam

Cumulative GPA of 2.0 (or state GPA requirement if higher) or competency-based equivalent

Completion of content requirements of Pathway 1 OR Pathway 2
